SELÇUK SOMER
Medical Doctor - OB/GYN

Born in 1964, Selçuk Somer has completed his primary school education at Erenköy Primary School. After graduating from İstanbul Lisesi (formerly known as İstanbul Erkek Lisesi, İEL as a boys’ high school); he proceeded to study medicine at İstanbul University Faculty of Medicine, and graduated in 1988. He began his obstetrics and gynaecology residency in the same year at Taksim Training and Research Hospital. After completing his work in perinatology at Freie University and Münster University between 1993 and 1995, he proceeded to do research in the fields of prenatal diagnosis and treatment, and endoscopic operations.

After moving back to Turkey, Mr. Somer has worked in Süleymaniye Maternity Hospital, Avrupa Hospital, and Taksim Hospital until 2006. He continues to work at the American Hospital Zekeriyaköy Polyclinic.

Mr. Somer has published work both in domestic and international scientific journals.

He is a member of İstanbul Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Turkish Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Turkish Perinatal Society, Turkish-German Gynecological Association, Turkish Gynecological Endoscopy Association (TJOD), Turkish Menopause and Osteoporosis Association, Reproductive Health and Infertility Association, and 1884 Association. His work focuses mainly on prenatal diagnosis and treatment (Amniocentesis, CVS), Doppler Ultrasonography, early diagnosis and treatment of women’s cancer, and endoscopic operations.

He speaks German and English, and he writes as a columnist for the health section of More and Gazeteport journals. Since 1995, he has been serving his patients in his private clinic.
